wow this company is completely unbelievable!!!!! i live in cincinatti and i called about data recovery because i googled data recovery and found that VA Data Recovery had a "local" office here in cincinnatti. i called to inquire a bit more about this and found out that their "local" office is not so local after all, and they are headqaurtered out of virginia. i asked why they said they had an office in cincinnatti, and the foreign sounding "representative" told met that i could drop off my hard drive there and that he could run remote diagnostics on my hard drive. now i am not stupid, i know i have an external hard drive that has failed and it had my thesis paper on it, and this hard drive could not turn on and would not work as i tried to hook it up as a slave and did everything possible to extract the data, so that this "data recovery engineer" (and i use this term very very loosely and sarcastically, thats why there is parenthesis) but anyways this "data recovery expert" could not possibly run remote diagnostics as the hard drive would not turn on! this is when i became suspicious about this company... anyways after inquiring about vadatarecovery this person named Garfun??? told me that their company has 36 different offices that were expanded in a year?? sounds very unlikely to me and sounds like complete bs to me, so i ask how a business can expand so well, and he said oh sorry only 17 locations added this year, we had 16 last year. regardless, apparently these are just locations that these people do not own, they just know someone in these different locations and use those offices, so they have no tools there of any kind to do any kind of diagnostics or any kind of data recovery, so do not trust Garfun when he answers the phone, much less anyone else that answers this phone. But it gets even better!!! After speaking with Garfun, i told him he was lying, and called him out on all of his bs, and he said no he did not want to speak to me and basically told me to f myself!!! so i decided to call back, and asked for a manager, and Garfun again answered the phone and said that no he was the only that was available right now, and i told him if you are a company with 36 some locations, how on earth are you the only one that is available? there is the tip off that this company is a basement operation run by one foreign person. IT GETS EVEN FOR THS SO CALLED DATA RECOVERY COMPANY FOLKS!! so i call back again about 10 more times because i am interested to see if this was a data recovery company, or a data recovery scam run by one person, and every single time Garfun answered the phone (kind of suspicious for a 32 location company??) and i kept asking for a manager, and finally on about the 11th or 12th time someone else answered, and i asked if he was the manager, to which he replied that yes he was in fact the manager. I asked for his name and he hesistated, then said "Israel Sanchez" and i aksed Israel like the country to which he replied yes. i then asked if he was trying to be funny or racist, or if this was a joke, to which he replied no it is not. after asking him some questions, which tripped him up like asking how he can do remote diagnostics from a broken hard drive, i asked if i could speak to someone in one of their non virginia locations, preferably the cincinatti location, and he said no, i asked if i drop off my hard drive could i speak to someone in their cincinatti location about my case, to which he replied no just give it to the receptionist. apparently these people just use these so called 35 other locations as shipping points, and have no equipment there, so if you want to stay local go with a local data recovery company, because these people are very very shady scam artists in the data recovery business. even when you speak with them they do not sound professional. Now as for the final hilarity of this whole case, i asked to speak to Israel Sanchez' supervisor or manager, and i'm sure everyone reading this can tell what is coming next, but Israel said that he had no manager, and then I asked what his title was at the company and he said President of VA Data Recovery!! I asked how it was that i could go from one rude sales person to the PRESIDENT OF THIS SO CALLED 36 OFFICE DATA RECOVERY COMPANY and he said thats just how it was!! by the way, just so you readers out there of data recovery comparison don't think that these were just 2 employees enjoying a laugh, i tried to call and get through to someone else other than Garfun or Israel and could not. So in closing, this company claims to have 36 different national locations, none of which are real but their one location in Virginia and it does not even seem like they have a clean room or the tools to perform the recovery job, and there are only MAYBE 2 people working at VA data recovery!! i would suggest to stay as strongly away as possible from these scam artists, as they are most likely a basement operation company. regardless, i sent my hard drive off to another competitor, which will more than likely get my data and i will review my data recovery experience on this site with them once they retrieve my data. hope you guys enjoy this review, and stay away from VA data recovery as they are frauds and crooks. Oh and one last hilarious side note, everytime i talked to these scam artists it sounded like they were on the same cell phone, and i later proved this by dialing their 800 phone number, asking for the operator and getting a local virginia cell phone voicemail, most likely by verizon, the number on the voicemail if anyone wants to call and verify my story is:703-415-6965. Regardless, enjoy and learn to do your research and be a little cautious before going with any company, but once again stay away from VA data recovery
