Ok, well my data recovery story of Platinum data recovery starts out that I had my laptop drive fail and decided to google data recovery around the Los Angeles area and came up with Platinum Data Recovery advertising cheap $199 data recovery. I decided to call them, and was answered by someone that sounded like they were definitely a young child under the age of 18. Now, dont get me wrong it was kind of suspicious that someone that young would work for a company that supposedly has offices all over the United States, but I did not let that deter me from going to see Platinum Data Recovery in their offices in Van Nuys, CA. Honestly, probably just by the sales person I should have just not walked into their pitiful excuse for a "data recovery center". First of all, it was hard to find and has no signs stating that it is a data recovery company, which is another sign of a data recovery scam, but the place is located on top of a liquor store!!! I literally could not find my way into this place at all because there are no signs that tell you where to go to find this place. So, foolishly I walked up the stairs and found a tiny cubicle like office with the door closed! I asked the other businesses in that same location if Platinum data recoveryw as located here, and they basically told me that one guy worked there in that little office, but I could leave the package with them. In hindsight, this was probably one of the worst things that I could have done because everything about Platinum data recovery so far seemed very fishy, and there was no way that this place had a clean room to perform the work in. Anyways, I brushed aside the angel on my left hand shoulder telling me to not leave my hard drive with this guy and left it with the guy. A couple days later I called to see if they had completed my diagnostic and the little kid that always answers the phones told me that they had not yet. If this was a geniune data recovery company with offices in 3 different metropolitan areas, why would they only have one person answering the phones??? Anyways I was told I would recieve a phone call in 24 hours, and never recieved it so I called back the next day. The little kid at Platinum data recovery then told me that my hard drive was physically damaged and that it would cost me over $1200 to get the data off of it! This is coming from a data recovery company that was advertising $199!!! These guys will do nothing but the old bait and switch scam, tell you $199 to get you through the door, then simply jack up the price! Apparently, instead of being called Platinum data recovery they should be called Platinum data recovery scam artists because that is what they are. I have read of only one other company that scams you this way, and that is Data Recovery Corp, hell I wouldnt be surprised if platinum data recovery is data recovery corp under a different name. Stay away from these people and never go to them, the fact that they have one person answering the phones, one tiny cubicle like office, and that they advertise an outrageous price that no one has probably ever been quoted by this "nationwide data recovery" scam and then they will simply give you a price that is 6 times as much! Platinum data recovery is the used care salesmen of data recovery, and I would not be surprised if they just charge you for nothing and could not recover a thing from your computer, even your recycling bin!

I called these jokers cause thier website looks like they are a big company, showing an office in 3 states. I live in New York and have an office 2 minutes away from there location, so I tell them can I come over there and drop off my hard drive he guy (SOUNDED LIKE A 12 YEAR OLD BOY) said and I quote "THAT WOULD NOT BE A GREAT PLACE TO DROP IT OFF AT BECAUSE ITS NOT REALLY AN OFFICE" just mail in the hard drive. WHY?? if you list an office do you list it when its not there. He could not give me an answear. By the way we kept getting disconnected and I had to call back 5 or 6 times and everytime the same little boy answered the phone.. I dont trust them they sound bogus and their whole facade of a big company is demolished when the one little boy answers the phone. DONT USE THEM !!! amateurs !!!
