I had Eco Data Recovery perform a data recovery on a Mac hard drive ($695)and they sent me a portable hard drive that was corrupted and now want me to pay an additional $495 for another recovery. What a rip off.

Beware Beware Beware - Rip Off.!!!!!!!!! 1. They oversell their capabilities to repair. 2. Salesperson will drastically overstate Eco Data Recovery as the ultimate experts in recovery - This is false. They could not recover data others did recover. 3. They cannot repair scratched drives - they will say they can, however. 4. They could not recover data from a scratched drive that two other firms could recover 5. They did no work on the drives - only opened them and said they were scratched. The customer told them they were both scratched before they were sent They claimed they would not do that in the sales discussion 6. They want $150 to $300 diagnostics fee for each drive just to open the casing. 7. They did not attempt any forensics on the scratched drives 8. They have a fixed cost for recovery - but if it is a difficult or long recovery job - they will say they cannot recover the data and collect the diagnostics fee. 9. They neglected to send all property back after failing to recover. They had to be prompted to send drives back. 10. They will claim much of the pre-sales conversation did not take place - I suggest you record all conversations with them. 11. They have an unprofessional issue resolution format. They do not want to talk to you if you want your money back. They will not give answers to your question on email or set up phone resolution conversations. 12. Do not use this company for your recovery needs.

Well, this is a scam for all scams. Basically I sent my hard drive to a certain data recovery company that did flat rat pricing, this company was called Aero DR or Aero Data Recovery (www.aerodr.com). Anyways, after paying these guys $279, they said they could not recover my data, but they recommended a company that they said could definitely recover my data called ECO Data Recovery. I googled data recovery and they were there so I gave them a call. They sounded professional over the phone and thought they could retrieve the data off my hard drive. I thought ok, I need data recovery and I will go with these guys because they seem like they know what they are doing. Boy was I ever wrong, ECO Data Recovery ended up charging me ab out $500, and did not retreive any of my data. Also, when I called for updates the service representative that picked up sounded like the exact same guy at ECO Data Recovery, I believe these two companies to be the same, and I would not go with either of them. Apparently both of them could not recover any data from your trash bin, much less a physically damaged hard drive. Aero Data Recovery will say that they can recover your data, (they will say it is a logical issue), charge you money, then say they can't but know of a company that can called ECO Data Recovery. ECO Data Recovery (who is the same as AeroDR) will then say sure they can recover your data but it is mechanically damaged and charge you another large sum of money and still won't recover your data. Please learn from my $800 mistake, and do your data recovery research online before going with any data recovery companies, especially Aero Data Recovery, or ECO Data Recovery.
