When my Seagate Barracuda was not being recognized by BIOS, I knew I needed the help of the data recovery company. I had first sent my drive to WeRecoverData.com and they were unsuccessful. (See my review for details.) My second choice was DriveSavers. A phone call was required to start a case. The quote was $1400. I sent my drive to California and received a phone call the next day informing me that the drive was too severely damaged for data recovery. They sent the drive back free. I ended up paying absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, they also recovered absolutely nothing despite advertising themselves as the highest recovery success rate in the industry. Great salespeople but found out that they base their fee(anywhere from $500-$4400 for a dual drive) on percentage of data recovered. I can't afford $4400 for 100% of my 250GB to be recovered, I'd rather put a down payment on a house! On the other hand, $500 for 10% of my data doesn't sound great either. It's hard to believe that they don't charge by the hour or by equipment used- this could be a very simple process that takes a couple of hours for all I know- for $4400! I passed.
